Tower of London Executioner's Block

What does it do?

Kill Amazon Mouseover Popovers is a greasemonkey script for Firefox that eliminates some of the more annoying mouseover popovers on Amazon.com, namely the "See all 31 product categories" popover and the Gold box popover.

Download version 0.1 of July 17, 2005.

Why?

It's a situation that's all too common. You're shopping Amazon.com, for the latest latest Harry Potter book. You try to position your mouse pointer in the search input box... but - oops! You overshoot by half an inch. Your pointer sadly finds its way into the "See all 31 Product Categories tab". Uh oh...why is this huge white box now covering the entire search input form?

Who's in charge here? Jeff Bezos, I'm looking at you.

This script fixes all that.

How do I install it?

You must be using Firefox. You must have the greasemonkey extension installed (this takes five clicks).

Step 1

After you have these, using Firefox, download the latest version of Kill Amazon Mouseover Popovers, from the link above. The script will be displayed in your browser.

Step 2

With the script displayed in Firefox, select Tools > Install User Script.

Step 3

Click OK to accept the default configuration and install.

That's it. You can try viewing Amazon.com and mousing over the "See all 31 product categories" tab to ensure that the script is installed properly. No popover should appear.

How do I uninstall it?

In Firefox, select Tools > Manage User Scripts. Select Kill Amazon Mouseover Popovers from the left-hand column, and click Uninstall.
